Massage Therapy

Therapeutic Massage can help to improve body function, reduce stress, and bring an overall sense of wellbeing. Many folks suffer from daily stress & fatigue. The chronic wear and tear on the body can often become so routine that our bodies become anesthetized. The body structure not only houses our muscular and skeletal systems, but also our mind and soul. Trauma and physical strain can make that structure weak and unsound. Through massage, the foundation of the body structure can be strengthened & renewed.

Massage therapy can help to improve posture, range of movement, & brings better blood flow to oxygen-deprived muscles. It reduces stress as well as the negative effects of the stress hormone, cortisol. More and more physicians are recommending massage therapy to their patients for stress-related tensions and injuries, as well as to help maintain overall health and wellness.

Massage is often thought of as a luxury. I believe it's more of a necessity for proper body maintenance. Whether you have a job that keeps you at a desk all day or you're an athlete, massage can help you keep your muscles and joints in optimum shape!

Synergy Hot Stone Massage

Experience the sensation of soothing warmth, melt away your tension, soothe your nervous system & boost your endorphins with SYNERGY STONE (TM) massage!

Hand-crafted Synergy Stones are made of solid ceramic. Once heated, they provide an ultra relaxing massage with radiant heat that melts muscle knots, relieves pain, promotes healing, improves blood and lymph flow, helps to detoxify the body, & tones the skin, as it calms the entire body & mind.

Massage without heat feels wonderful but mostly affects the pressure and motion receptors. Traditional hot stones are a good addition to massage but still lack the ability to give targeted deep heat and specialized techniques over the whole body. Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage is similar to regular massage. However, prenatal massage is customized to the needs of the pregnant woman and her changing body and massage techniques are adjusted accordingly. Carrying a baby changes your center of gravity. It puts a lot of stress on your back, neck, abdominal muscles, and shoulders. Pregnancy also relaxes your ligaments and connective tissues creating instability in the pelvic joints. As your posture changes, the pelvis is pulled forward. Couple that with the extra weight being carried can create an aching back. Prenatal massage not only can help with back and joint pain, it improves circulation, reduces edema, headaches, stress, anxiety and insomnia.

Precautions for Prenatal Massage:  Women who have recently experienced bleeding, pre-term contractions, or have any of the following conditions should speak with a health care provider prior to receiving a massage:

  • High risk pregnancy

  • Pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH)

  • Preeclampsia

  • Previous pre-term labor

  • Experiencing severe swelling, high blood pressure, or sudden, severe headaches

Thai Foot Reflexology

Thai Foot Reflexology stimulates the body into restoring itself by improving circulation, reducing stress, pain and reestablishing natural balance. Thai Foot Reflexology was developed in Chiang Mai, Thailand and is based on the wisdom of the nature of the human body to seek homeostasis. Thai foot reflexology provides an enjoyable, relaxing, and rejuvenating experience. Unique massage techniques are used to open up and encourage the flow of energy channels in the body as pressure is applied to specific areas of the soles of the feet, toes and ankles. In turn, a reflex reaction occurs in another part of the body, which is stimulated by the manipulation of a specific part of the foot. Additionally, you session will include a relaxing massage to the lower legs, arms, hands, and fingers. Thai Foot Reflexology is ideal if you spend a lot of time on your feet, or have tired feet or legs at the end of the day. Lymphatic Massage

Certain health conditions (such as recent surgery, diabetes, cancer treatments that involve removal of the lymph nodes, infection, and trauma) can cause fluid to back up in the body. This specialized medical massage has a very light touch that encourages the natural drainage of the lymph fluid, which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart so that it can be released from the body. This massage decongests the lymphatic pathways as it enhances the immune system as it removes bacteria, viruses, cancer cells and dead cells from the body, improves nutrition to the tissues, and increases tissue metabolism.

By performing lymphatic drainage massage correctly, with a very light touch, it stimulates the opening of the initial lymphatic and increases the volume of lymph flow by as much as 20 times. But if pushed too hard, it can collapse the lymph vessels, diminishing the lymph flow. Excessive pressure can even break the filaments that hold the initial lymphatic in place. This is one reason that deep styles of massage are contraindicated in areas of edema. However, if deep pressure has broken any filaments, they usually reform within 24 hours.

Contraindications: Major heart problems, cellulitis (bacterial skin infection), thrombosis, phlebitis, acute inflammation
